Barkingside Methodist Church in Ilford have been awarded a £22,000 grant from the Veolia Environmental Trust, meaning they can finally say goodbye to their old, unreliable and expensive church heating system.  With the church heating grant they will be upgrading the run down boiler to a brand new fuel efficient gas powered unit.

This means the church will be able to produce consistent heat – which is vital in the winter months – but also at a much cheaper rate than what they are used to. Their old, inefficient heating system was costing a fortune in fuel bills, and also in maintenance costs.

The brand new church heating system will also provide hot water to serve the building, which according to Cliff Everitt, of Barkingside Methodist Church, was temperamental. He is also optimistic that the upgrades will mean the church and community hall will see more worshippers and visitors, providing them with a warm environment for many years to come.
