All Saints’ Church in Ammanford has secured a grant of over £180,000 to help toward the regeneration of the building, including structural, electrical and of course the all important church heating system.
The Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme is responsible for the grant, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Church is in desperate need of refurbishment, and the old, out-dated boilers are very inefficient and expensive to run. The church is a strong focal point at the centre of the local community, so everyone is delighted at the news.
Other work includes the construction of a community room, and a modern kitchen. With the work completed, the church will be able to open it’s doors to various events, like music concerts, plays, art exhibitions and other community events.
The church heating funding is part of a near £1m investment for rejuvenating the area, which will see improvements to other community buildings, as well as the construction of a brand new communal IT suite, with state of the art computer facilities.
