Midlands church gets a long awaited heating system upgrade
St Peter’s Wootton Wawen church in Stratford-upon-Avon has struggled with it’s inefficient, expensive and pretty useless underfloor heating system for the past 30 years, but now all that has changed thanks to the installation of 9 QXD Quartz heaters from Dimplex, which are infra-red UV heating lamps, much like we see outside many restaurants and bars today.
The old system was a fan driven hot air convection system, that pumped warmth through vents throughout the church, but the system was unreliable, expensive to run, and took over 2 hours to get up to temperature. With the system being so old, it was not longer a viable option to keep repairing and maintaining it. Besides it not being very effective at keeping everyone warm, the church heating system was costing a fortune in energy bills.Because the relatively small church only requires heat for short periods of time, they were advised to have a direct heat lamp system installed. It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing design, but it provides instant heat for worshippers at the flick of a switch, and when they are no longer required, they are simply turned off again. This system for heating a church would not be suitable for larger open spaces, but it works perfectly for this 10th century church
