St. Christopher’s Church, Withington, Manchester

The Challange

St Christopher’s Church in Withington, Manchester, are long term clients of ours, and our church heating heating engineers perform annual gas inspections every year without fail. During this year’s inspection it was clear that the system was becoming increasingly expensive to run with repair costs also mounting up.

The Solution

The plan was to remove the existing floor standing boiler in the kitchen and replace it with a new wall hung condensing boiler. The existing zone valves was re-used allowing independent usage of the main worship area, hall and side rooms. With a new circulation pump added and removal of some corroded pipe work, the church heating system was power flushed out to ensure it was clean and clear. The existing water tank was replaced with a new one but relocated into the hall area in the roof space. All the pipes were boxed in and painted to keep them out of sight.

The entire system was connected to a new 3 zone smart controller, which allowed the church owners to make sure hall hire had heating on/off when required without having to attend the church.

This church heating project was completed in just 7 days, and was scheduled for completion during school term time so the church didn’t loose revenue on its hall hire while the new system was being installed.
