St. James Church, Congleton

The St James church heating system had been ticking along for some years after a number of good parts had been retrofitted to a failing system. A proposal was put forward by our specialist church heating engineers to install new twin boilers and to move them into a different location.

The previous church boilers were situated in the old boiler house and this was open to damage, damp and bad weather conditions. The existing church boilers needed to be removed and all the pipe work was stripped back. New zone valves were installed, allowing independent control of the required areas. The main church area was calculated and the results showed that it was under-heated, so additional radiators were added onto the side walls to boost the overall heat output. The new boilers were installed in the vestry room above and all the new pipe work which was adjusted to suit. New flue holes had to be diamond core drilled, and anti plume kits were installed to divert the byproducts of combustion.

New church controls were added, along with pumps, filtration and insulation, all to help the church with reducing the running cost and boost the warm-up times. All work was completed in just 7 days, leaving the church warm, evenly heated and better controlled.

Church Warden – Albert: “Just a quick note to say thank you from everybody at Saint James church. Really do appreciate you getting the new system in before the festive period. All the best, Albert Crew”
