St. Thomas Church, Edinburgh

St Thomas Church in Edinburgh contacted the UK’s number one church heating specialist after visiting another church in the area that our team of engineers had recently worked on. St Thomas was having issues with rising fuel cost and with the church forever expanding in its 3 hall areas, it was important to design the right type of heating system.

The church currently had 2 old floor standing boilers and the piping system had been extended over time, leaving areas of the church heating struggling to get warm. Heat loss and volumatic calculations were performed, and it was proven that the current system was under sized for its purpose. The church has permanent office staff at the premises, but keeping up with evening bookings was becoming too much for the staff to control its heating. 

A new 3 zone heating system design was put together with allowance to add a 4th zone for if the boiler in that area stops working. New twin wall hung boilers were installed along with all new circulation pumps and a multi clean filtration system. As control was a big part of the design, a new multi-zone smart control was installed allowing the church to control the heating from there smart phone, PC or tablet from any remote location. The thermostats were correctly positioned and placed in tamper proof housings to prevent church users making alterations. 

All work was completed in just 5 days and was worked around any bookings, This allowed the church not to loose revenue and ensured the main worship area was warm for there Sunday service.
