Set in the county of Devon, Exeter is on the River Exe, between Bristol and Plymouth.  Exeter Cathedral was Founded in the 12th Century by Roman settlers.  There are many other churches and church buildings dating back to the same period, and many more have been build since.  The Exeter Book is kept in the Cathedral, locked away in the vaults, and is said to be the most important piece of Anglo Saxon literature.
