St Peter’s Church in Wrockwardine, Telford receives £157,000 lottery grant and placed on the national Heritage at Risk register, saving it from possible closure. The urgent repair work will begin within six months, to fix the bell tower masonry and roof tiling, which has been crumbling away for years. A new church central heating system will also be installed.
The church was in no immediate danger, but there was a risk that the building would have to close in years to come if the work was not carried out, due to it’s diminishing state. The 1000 year old church has dilapidated over the years, but thanks to the grant, it will be fully restored, and made safe once again. All the work is due to be completed by this time next year, and
warden Nigel Pearson and Rev David Chantrey couldn’t be more excited. They anticipate an initial cash injection of £10,000 to allow preparations to get underway, with the rest of the money, and the project, beginning later this year.We continually support churches that have been given access to grants to help them with their church heating requirements, if you need any advices, quotes or have any enquiries, please give us a call on 0161 211 6955.
